Precision Bare PCB Manufacturing Services?
A bare PCB (also called a PCB bare board or unpopulated PCB) is a circuit board fabricated from your design files, without any components mounted, ready for assembly.
Fast Turn PCBs manufactures bare PCBs for:
- Prototypes & engineering validation (quick iterations, design bring-up)
- Low-to-mid volume production (repeatable builds with stable process control)
- Complex or custom requirements (materials, finishes, stackups, and feature options)

What Is a Bare PCB ?
A bare PCB is an entirely fabricated printed circuit board that includes copper traces and vias for electrical connections but does not include components (no SMT/THT parts installed).
Bare boards matter because many critical checks and procedures are performed before assembly, and some can’t be performed once the board is fully populated.
What a bare PCB includes:
- Substrate/base material (structural support and insulation)
- Copper layers/traces (signal and power routing)
- Solder mask (protects copper and supports assembly)
- Silkscreen (reference markings and polarity indicators)
- Surface finish (protects exposed pads and improves solderability)
Bare PCB vs. Perfboard (Zero PCB)
- Bare PCB
For high-speed or RF designs, a bare PCB can be built with controlled stackup geometry and consistent fabrication processes to help maintain target impedance and reduce performance variability.
- Perfboard / Zero PCB
However, perfboards are not designed for controlled routing. The long lead lengths, discontinuous return paths, and inconsistent interconnects make them unreliable for high-speed signals, differential pairs, and RF sections—where impedance, reflections, and EMI matter.
Bare PCB Fabrication Capabilities
Fast Turn supports bare PCB fabrication from prototype through production with process control aligned to IPC guidelines and compliance with ISO9001 and RoHS/REACH standards.

- DFM Review & Process Controls
Every successful bare PCB build starts with the basics:
- File check (Gerber, drill, notes/stackup)
- Manufacturability review (clearances, annular ring, solder mask, tolerances)
- Build-rule alignment before production to reduce rework and turnaround time
Bare PCB Manufacturing Process
Bare PCB fabrication is systematic. Here’s a clean high-level view of the typical flow :
- Design output & fabrication notes
- DFM review & film/imaging preparation
- Inner-layer imaging & etching
- Lamination (stackup bonding under controlled pressure/heat)
- Drilling (through holes/vias)
- Copper plating (hole wall metallization and copper build-up)
- Solder mask application & cure
- Surface finish
- Silkscreen printing
- 10.Electrical test & depaneling (V-score/router)
Electrical Testing & Inspection for Bare PCBs
- Continuity / Opens / Shorts
Confirms correct connectivity and detects unintended shorts between nets. - Isolation Resistance
Checks electrical separation between adjacent nets to help prevent leakage and intermittent failures. - Flying Probe Testing (fixtureless)
Ideal for prototypes and low-volume runs—fast setup, broad coverage, and no dedicated test fixture required. - Impedance Verification
For impedance-controlled builds, verification can be performed using test coupons and TDR-based measurement methods, as required. This supports predictable performance for high-speed and RF signal paths, where impedance consistency is critical.
